Monday saw reports from the Catalan media that Barcelona are considering a swoop for Robin Gosens.

The Atalanta player, who operates in a role advanced of fullback, is attracting a lot of interest this summer, and the idea was he could compete with Jordi Alba for a starting place with the Blaugrana.

Given the amount Gosens would cost, that’s perhaps an unrealistic aim for Barcelona this summer, and AS push forward another target. The Spanish newspaper say they’ve been able to confirm the club are considering Owen Wijndal.

The 21-year-old currently plays for AZ Alkmaar and has been included by Frank de Boer in the long-list for the Netherlands’ Euro 2020 squad.

He has a contract until 2023, and AS say it’s believed the transfer would be ‘economical’, meaning another one of the ‘low cost’ operations Barcelona are looking at.

Wijndal is represented by Mino Raiola, and the agent’s close relationship with Joan Laporta is seen as a way the deal can be built.
