Barcelona are eyeing up a move for Real Sociedad star Alexander Isak this summer, if they can’t get Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund.

That’s according to MARCA,  who say the club have deemed it ‘essential’ to add a goalscorer to their squad this summer.

Haaland is the number one target but, having established himself among the world’s best, it would cost over €150m to get him and that makes his chances of arriving at the Camp Nou ‘practically impossible’.

That means Barcelona are looking elsewhere and one of the players they have been looking at ‘for a long time’ is Real Sociedad star Isak.

Barça already had him in their sights when they ended up signing Martin Braithwaite and received ‘very good reports’ on the Swedish striker at the time.

He’s been in excellent form and is currently sixth in the La Liga goalscoring charts with 14 goals, a fact that has made him a key player in La Real’s ‘good season’.

At just 21-years-old his ‘room for improvement is enormous’ and that is a major factor in Barcelona’s reckoning, as his is price tag, which is around €25-30m but could fall.

None of this is dependant on the arrival of Memphis Depay or Sergio Agüero, particularly the latter, as there is a feeling he will not be a regular given his age and recent injury history.

So, if Haaland is as unattainable as it seems, Isak is the next in line to become the man to lead Barcelona’s forward line.
