Barcelona president Joan Laporta has already started to work on bringing Borussia Dortmund star Erling Haaland to the club this summer.

That’s according to Sport, who cover the situation today and say the recently elected president is working to make a ‘miracle’ signing happen.

Haaland is expected to be courted by all the major clubs in Europe this summer after another superb season with the Bundesliga side.

Barcelona are known to be among his admirers, with Laporta and manager Ronald Koeman believing they are in desperate need of a top-level striker.

Haaland is the one they want, according to Sport, and they say that ‘despite the complexity’ of the operation, particularly from an economic aspect, he has already ‘set to work’ to make it happen as they believe he would be the ‘perfect reinforcement’.

It’s stated that if anyone can make it happen, it is Laporta, and he is already working to raise the funds so Barcelona can afford the €110m Dortmund want.

That’s a figure the Catalans can only afford if they sell Philippe Coutinho and Antoine Griezmann, two players signed for huge prices but who have provided a ‘failed performance’.

Selling both is Laporta’s ‘main objective’ and would make a move for Haaland ‘feasible’ this summer.

Laporta has already been in contact with the striker’s agent Mino Raiola and asked him to block any other potential moves until he has raised the funds. It’s yet to be seen if that strategy works, however.
