As has been reported since Pep Guardiola was announced as Manchester City’s new manager, Joe Hart’s future has been a big question mark.

The English goalkeeper’s performances at the Euros will have done nothing to help his cause and now there are strong rumours linking Barcelona goalkeeper Claudio Bravo to the Premier League.

The Chilean was the Catalan’s side starting first-team member in the league, while Marc-André ter Stegen played in the Champions League and the cups.

However, there has since been a change of plan.

TV3 in Spain reported on Tuesday night that the young German goalkeeper would become the club’s number one option, meaning Claudio Bravo might not want to hang around much longer.

Relayed by Mundo Deportivo in their Wednesday newspaper, the TV channel claimed the decision to place ter Stegen ahead of Bravo was pretty much immediate once the player made it clear he wasn’t happy sitting around on the bench for most of the season.

The Spanish newspaper say that even with a release clause of €40m, Barcelona would be prepared to accept bids of around €20m for the 33-year-old, which Manchester City would easily afford.

Another option for the ageing shot stopper is Manchester United, but that seems a bit more of a distant thought from Mundo Deportivo than anything else. Perhaps it’s to spice things up a little, a good old Manchester battle… whether it exists or not.

This could be cleared up soon, though.

We’ll have to wait and see.
