Manchester United were left disappointed in their efforts to sign Antoine Griezmann last summer after chasing the Atletico Madrid star for months. Now, Barcelona could be at the receiving end in their ongoing pursuit of the forward.
The Catalan club have been chasing Griezmann for the past four months. Their star players like Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez, along with president Josep Maria Bartomeu, have all given their approval to sign the France international.
Griezmann’s release clause will change on July 1st. From that date onwards, his price tag will drop from €200m to €100m. AS reported the Spanish capital club will put ‘all the meat on the grill’ and convince the player to continue at Atletico.
The “sporting direction of the club” also trusts that the Frenchman does not want to leave Wanda Metropolitano.
Despite multiple reports stating that Griezmann will stay at Atletico, the La Liga winners continue to believe the attacker will be wearing the Barcelona shirt next season. They also want the player to talk about his future soon.
Just when most of the reports suggested that Griezmann to Barcelona is almost a done deal, there’s a new twist to this transfer saga.
