Manchester City star Erling Haaland remains a target for Barcelona, according to Sport.
The striker has been a standout player for Manchester City since joining them in 2022. Barcelona have him on their agenda for next summer.
The report focuses on Barca’s desire to sign Julián Alvarez, who left Manchester City for Atlético Madrid in the summer of 2024.
It’s claimed Barcelona president Joan Laporta has had a soft spot for Alvarez since his time at the Etihad. Sport details the interest in the 25-year-old Argentine and towards the end, they focus on Haaland.
Although Alvarez is the No.1 target, it’s claimed Hansi Flick’s side haven’t forgotten about the Manchester City frontman. They don’t rule out making an approach for him.
The newspaper reports the Bluagrana are entering an election year and therefore, Laporta will ‘use all his resources to attract a major signing to excites fans’. For attack, the two targets are the Norway international and Alvarez.
It’s claimed Laporta has an ‘excellent relationship’ Haaland’s agent Rafaela Pimienta. This could favour the president to help Barca sign the player.
Back in May, Laporta said “nothing is impossible” when asked about the possibility of the Spanish giants signing Haaland.
Sport make no mention of any figures or if Barcelona can even afford to sign him. Haaland’s contract lasts until 2034 and even though Barca see him as a major signing, they will find it extremely difficult to take the Norwegian from Manchester City.
