Despite several reports from Brazil saying João Gomes’ transfer from Flamengo to Wolverhampton Wanderers was nearly done, it seems we now have a setback in this case.
Journalist Venê Casagrande now shares some surprising news, saying a new club has entered that tussle.
On Twitter, the reporter claims Flamengo still haven’t signed off Gomes’ transfer to Wolves because Lyon have now made an offer for his signing.
It’s claimed that the bid from the Ligue 1 side is ‘a little better’, so the Rio de Janeiro club have ‘delayed’ the deal with Wolves.
Venê Casagrande claims this subject is set to be sorted today, but doesn’t make it clear whether Gomes is more likely to move to France or England.
According to reports from Brazil, Wolves were paying €17m to sign the midfielder.
At the weekend, even the player’s barber showed he was cutting his hair for the last time, wishing his friend good luck in his trip.
Since it isn’t said how much Lyon are offering for the transfer, we now wonder whether the Molineux side will still win that race, or if they will have to up their own bid to beat out the Ligue 1 club.
