Manchester United are having a torrid time when it comes to injuries, especially in their defence.

Whilst the left back situation does a good job of summing the whole thing up, there’s also been problems in central defence.

That’s where Lisandro Martinez comes into the issue and out of the team.

The Red Devils have announced the former Ajax player will be out for an extended period, and in Argentina they’re seeing that as potentially three months but perhaps only two.

Ole, the country’s major sports newspaper, are reporting that timeline and they say it’s ‘very bad news’ for both Manchester United and the Argentina national side.

Martinez is now expected to miss both the October and November international breaks, which includes a match against Brazil, something he’ll be disappointed to miss out on for the World Cup winners.

Given the metatarsal injury is a repeat of the player’s last problem then it’s certain his return will be managed especially carefully.

Manchester United will obviously hope they can get their player fully fit and back on the pitch before the end of the year.
