Everton’s diminishing hopes of sealing a deal for PSV Eindhoven’s Denzel Dumfries have been dealt another blow as Inter Milan have put his name back on the table.
That’s according to Corriere Dello Sport, who say Inter would ‘prefer to bet’ on the Dutchman than other targets for the right-back spot.
They explain that in a meeting with the club regarding Andrea Pinamonti, Mino Raiola took the opportunity to revive Inter’s interest in his other client, Dumfries.
He knows that with Romelu Lukaku moving to Chelsea, Inter have the money to invest in the Dutchman and is aware that manager Simone Inzaghi has a ‘preference’ for his client.
Any offer from Inter will be lower than that, though, so there could be a few more weeks of negotiations to get through before they get their man.
That should give Everton hope, but it seems it’s now a case of now or never if Marcel Brands and co want to get their man.
Recent reports in England stated they were looking at trying to do a loan deal for Dumfries, yet if Inter now have the cash and are willing to spend it, that seems like a pointless exercise.
PSV have always made it clear they want the money and not a loan deal, hence why Inter were pulling back in the first place.
With them set to receive a windfall, though, it appears Dumfries is back on the table, and Raiola is working hard to make it happen, which is bad news for Everton and their plans.
