David de Gea has found himself on Bayern Munich’s list of options this summer, just weeks after leaving Manchester United on a free transfer.
That’s according to BILD, who state ‘that would be awesome!’ for the German champions if they were able to pull off a deal.
They explain that with Manuel Neuer not set to be fully fit at the start of the season, having not yet complete his rehabilitation from a broken leg, Bayern have something of a goalkeeping problem.
Yann Sommer doesn’t want to be number two behind the German and would like to leave for Inter Milan as soon as possible, leaving Sven Ulreich as their only option heading into the new campaign.
A new signing is needed, and De Gea would fit the bill, particularly as he’s available on a free transfer after leaving Manchester United a few weeks ago.
That makes him an attractive option to fill a problem position, with Bayern not doubting his quality in that regard. They now want to check is ‘basic willingness’ to potentially make the move to Bavaria this summer.
At the moment he is just one of a number of options being explored but given others on their list would require big transfer sums, the former Manchester United man may have the advantage.
