Manchester United need to sign at least one midfielder in the summer transfer window. It looks like their difficulty in signing a specific player may be about to grow.

That player is Stuttgart’s Angelo Stiller, who has impressed for the Bundesliga club and this has helped him play seven times for the German national team.

Sport Witness have covered that Manchester United were interested in the midfielder last summer. Real Madrid were also keen at that point but no transfer materialised.

Juventus are now in the picture for the 25-year-old and are preparing to take steps towards a summer deal.

Attempt to beat competition

TuttoJuve report Juve want to ‘avoid an auction’ for Stiller, who has a release clause worth €36.5m in his contract right now. This is specifically appealing to the Old Lady, who see the player as an alternative to Manuel Locatelli in the squad.

Stuttgart have the option to cancel that release clause and this would cause problems for the Italian side. Before that happens, their plan is to quickly convince Stiller about the project in Turin.

They want to speed up contacts with his entourage to try and agree personal terms.

Manchester United are still in the race and this is an issue for the Bianconeri. As a result, they want to avoid protracted negotiations and iron out an agreement with the player as quickly as possible.

Our take: Entourage trying to attract offers

The report points at the fact that Stiller’s entourage is leaking information about the affordable release clause in the player’s contract. If that does get cancelled, Stuttgart will pay compensation to Stiller to have more say over his future.

Speeding things up and trying to make the situation clearer, looks like the player’s plan.
