Currently stuck at Hotspur Way due to a back injury, thus missing out on Tottenham’s pre-season tour, Bryan Gil will also be trying to sort out his future.
The Spaniard has seen his time at Spurs mostly spent out on loan, first to Valencia and then Sevilla, as Antonio Conte never really felt he was ready to contribute in his team.
The arrival of Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham could have changed that, but his injury recovery means he has yet to truly work with the Spaniard, who remains a target for Lazio, as explained by Corriere dello Sport.
The forward has been linked with a move to Rome a few times this summer already, since Maurizio Sarri wants another winger in his squad, but there are a few obstacles to overcome for a player that is ‘very much liked’ by the manager.
One is the price, as Corriere point out the 22-year-old ‘costs a fortune’ in the eyes of Lazio, since Tottenham would want a fee of around €25m to let their man go permanently.
Therefore, he would only be ‘available on loan’ to the Serie A side, which isn’t really what they want at this moment in time.
Of course, this could change as the transfer window goes on and permanent options dwindle, but, for now, they would have to simply accept that he would be a temporary arrival, since they simply cannot afford to meet Tottenham’s asking price.
