Brighton & Hove Albion’s Moisés Caicedo extended his impressive club form in Ecuador’s 2-0 win over Qatar at the 2022 World Cup on Sunday.
The midfielder has been starring for the Seagulls since he returned to The Amex from his loan spell at Beerschot at the start of this year.
Prior to La Tri’s opening match of the FIFA tournament, the Brighton star had a chat with AS, where he admitted the Premier League experience has helped him to handle pressure.
“I do not feel pressure, because I know what I can give and I know that I am very young. Little by little I can add things that I still need, but I feel that I am already a top player, that’s why I’m playing at Brighton and in the Premier League,” he said.
“I don’t believe myself more than anyone. I only think about being better every day. I want to be one of the best footballers that many people have seen. That’s what I prepare for every day.”
AS have specifically quizzed Roberto De Zerbi’s man on how he handles the speculation surrounding his future and whether he fancies a move to La Liga.
Responding to that, Caicedo explained: “La Liga attracts me a lot. The most, the Premier League. Now I’m at Brighton, I’m focused there, I want to leave Brighton at the top. I don’t think about anything else.
“And now, at the World Cup, I am 200% focused. I’m not trying to let those rumours throw me off my focus. I am convinced that this Ecuador can win great trophies”
The rumours around Caicedo’s future could increase if he continues to shine for Ecuador at the FIFA tournament.
His deal at The Amex expires in 2025 and that should put Brighton in a good position to demand a hefty fee to sanction the player’s sale.
