According to a claim in the Danish media, Blackburn Rovers are closing in on Bodø/Glimt forward Mathias Jørgensen.

The 25-year-old has been linked with the Championship side this month as they look to add to their squad.

Tipsbladet report on the latest developments regarding Blackburn Rovers’ pursuit for Jørgensen. The Danish source says the right winger is ready to commit himself to the English cub and will shortly sign a long contract.

It’s also claimed the attacker missed today’s training session with his club, ahead of his proposed transfer to England.

At this stage there’s no indication of the transfer fee Blackburn Rovers will pay for the former Denmark U21 international or the length of contract.

Blackburn Rovers looking to turn around season

Blackburn Rovers will be hoping the arrival of Jørgensen will help to get their season back on track. They currently find themselves in a relegation battle after a run of poor results.

The east Lancashire club find themselves just four points ahead of 22nd placed Norwich City and face a battle to avoid dropping down to League One. They’ve suffered three defeats and a draw in their last four league games.

Jørgensen only joined Bodø/Glimt during the last summer transfer window on a four-year contract. His performances last season for Danish side AaB got him his transfer to Norway, scoring 16 goals in 37 games.

His move to the Norwegian side has given him the opportunity to play in the Champions League, making five appearances in the competition.

However, it seems his brief spell at Bodø/Glimt is coming to end as he nears a move to Blackburn Rovers. He’s played 15 times since his move Denmark, scoring four goals.

He also had a spell in the MLS earlier in his career when he signed for New York Red Bulls. Jørgensen returned to his home country following a few seasons in the US, and is now set for Ewood Park.
