Hugo Bueno moved to Wolves in 2019, with the tough task of making it through the final stage of the club’s academy and then trying to find a way to the first team.
He made his Premier League debut against Nottingham Forest in October of last year. So far this season, the left-back has made an impressive 19 performances for Wolves and is being much used by Julen Lopetegui.
At the age of just 20, it’s the progress Bueno will have hoped for.
Spanish newspaper AS report that progress has caught the eye of Atletico Madrid, who have ‘set their sights’ on the youngster for the summer window.
Los Rojiblancos don’t have a huge budget for the next window and instead of etsablished superstars they’re looking for free agents or young and hungry players.
According to the report, Bueno fits that bracket, and he’s been a ‘sensation’ for Wolves this season. There’s hope that Atletico having a good relationship with Wolves could be of benefit, but this would be a difficult transfer.
Bueno signed a new contract in November, and given that runs until 2026… there’s no pressure on Wolves.
