Following a season on loan at Aston Villa, Nicolò Zaniolo is now back in his home country, as Galatasaray accepted loaning him out to Atalanta.

With the deal done, outlet Calcio Mercato now shares a story with all details about the transfer, which could become permanent next summer.

According to the website, Atalanta are initially paying €3m for the loan. Then a purchase can be done for €16m, and even become obligatory under certain conditions, while €3m bonuses can be added to the deal, with the whole package possibly reaching €22m.

That’s lower than the clause Aston Villa had to buy Zaniolo, as reports from Italy at the time claimed the Villans would need €27m to trigger it, plus potential bonuses.

Galatasaray obviously lowered the price considering that his contract is now three years from its end, and given that the midfielder hasn’t exactly been impressive recently, there isn’t a high chance that clubs will pay a big amount for him.

With Aston Villa never seriously interested in keeping Zaniolo, we should soon get to see if his spell at Atalanta would be good enough for a purchase.
