Czech Republic manager Ivan Hašek has insisted he’s looking on the bright side of Tomáš Souček’s recent West Ham United absence.

IDNES cover comments from the Czech coach today, during which he was asked about the West Ham star’s situation.

Souček has barely played since the last international break after picking up a red card in the 3-0 loss to Tottenham midway through September.

That saw him pick up a three-match ban, missing the loss to Crystal Palace and the 1-1 draw with Everton last Monday. He still has another game to go of that suspension.

His lack of minutes over the last two weeks is a potential problem for Czech Republic, though. He remains a key player in Ivan Hašek’s plans and a captain for his country to boot.

He is likely to start both of their games in the upcoming international break, when they take on Croatia and the Faroe Islands in World Cup qualifying.

They’d prefer to have the West Ham star fully fit and firing for those games, but Hašek is looking on the bright side and thinks he can see a positive.

“We communicate with each other, we saw the data from his match for the junior team, he ran 13km, so he has some workload. I believe that he will at least arrive rested,” he said when asked about the West Ham man.
