Nottingham Forest completed the signing of Nicolò Savona from Juventus on August 30th. He was the only right-back to arrive at the Premier League club in the summer window.
Prior to his arrival, Nottingham Forest looked at a few other candidates, including Sevilla’s José Ángel Carmona.
On August 21st, we covered claims from Spain that Nottingham Forest had reached an €11m agreement with Sevilla. The move didn’t go through because the 23-year-old wasn’t keen on the transfer.
Last month, Mucho Deported reported the La Liga club were surprised with his decision to reject the Reds. Sevilla were keen because his sale would have improved their finances. Two weeks ago, Carmona said he rejected Nottingham Forest because he wasn’t prepared to leave Sevilla.
The Andalusian club have changed their stance if Orgullo Biri is to be believed. Their title states: ‘Sevilla are glad they didn’t sell him’.
Within the report, it’s explained Sevilla came close to selling him to Nottingham Forest but he turned them down.
Carmona has been used as right and left-back this season, managing two assists from six matches so far. Last weekend, he assisted Akor Adams’ winner against Rayo Vallecano and also impressed while defending.
The outlet state: ‘He was the player with the most defensive actions (11), the most duels played (12), the most duels won (7), and the only one to create a chance with a key assist.’
His performances excite Sevilla and their supporters, and Orgullo Biri adds the fans are ‘astonished’ and view him as a new signing.
