Aston Villa have identified Pumas UNAM’s Pedro Vite as a new transfer target this summer.
The Ecuador international left his country when Vancouver Whitecaps FC signed him from Independiente del Valle in 2021.
In July 2025, the midfielder left Vancouver for the Mexican club, and his performances have caught Aston Villa’s attention.
Last season, he mainly operated as a defensive midfielder and in the middle of the pitch, and occasionally in other attacking positions. Vite managed four goals and an assist from 40 matches.
Aston Villa make approach
El Telégrafo in Ecuador covers the Europa League winners’ desire to bring the 24-year-old to the Premier League.
Unai Emery’s side have made the first approach and are likely to have contacted Pumas UNAM to ask about his contract situation and the terms needed to sign Pedro Vite.
The Mexican club invested $7m [€6.14m] to sign him a year ago and now won’t let him leave for less than $10m [8.77m]. This may not be a concern for the Villans.

World Cup exit should help
His performances for his club helped him retain his place in the national team. Vite played every minute in the World Cup, including in their 2-0 defeat to Mexico on Wednesday.
This defeat means La Tri are out of the World Cup, which allows Aston Villa to soon make further advances.
Bolavip claims the Premier League side followed him closely during the World Cup. His displays would have convinced the Villans, who could table a bid for the versatile player.
Argentine side Racing Club de Avellaneda are also showing interest, but Vite is unlikely to return to South America. The outlet states ‘there’s a good chance’ he’ll move to Europe this summer.
The City Football Group have looked at him while scouting in Mexico recently.
Vite’s contract, value and agent info
Pedro Vite has three years left on his contract and his value, as per Transfermarkt, is €6m.
Agency AGN Football, who also represent Club Brugge star Joel Ordóñez, manage the Aston Villa target.
