Ruben Amorim potentially moving from Sporting to West Ham United isn’t the only Hammers related story in the Portuguese press on Tuesday morning.

Record report West Ham, along with Aston Villa, are keen on Pedro Gonçalves. Bayer Leverkusen offered €30m for the attacker last summer and were knocked back.

Gonçalves has an €80m release clause and interested clubs would surely have to get closer to that. So far this season, the 25-year-old has scored 18 goals and added 16 assists in 44 matches.

Record give no indication of what West Ham or Aston Villa would have to pay, although recent managerial developments make the potential battle more intriguing.

Should they secure Champions League football then Aston Villa would naturally be the more attractive option for many, however, should West Ham secure Sporting manager Ruben Amorim then that could change things entirely,

Gonçalves has grown and shone under Amorim and the pair are very well connected with their approach to the game. Playing on the left, right or through the middle as an attacking midfielder, Gonçalves has been an important part of the manager’s style.
