Fanatik claim Fenerbahce will face competition from West Bromwich Albion and Aston Villa for the signature of Mainz midfielder Erkan Eyibil.

In recent days the youngster has been linked by the English press to West Brom, and now it seems their West Midland rivals Aston Villa are also interested.

According to Fanatik, Fenerbahce are hoping they can beat local rivals Besiktas and the two Championship sides in the race to sign the player.

Fenerbahce are reportedly in talks with Eyibil’s agent and family as they look to convince the Germany youth international to move to Istanbul. With the player having Turkish heritage, Fener will be hoping this gives them an advantage over West Brom and Aston Villa.

In March we covered reports from Turkey that West Ham United and Newcastle United are also interested in signing the 17 year old midfielder, who could leave Mainz this summer.

The youngster is contracted to the Bundesliga side until June 2020 and has been dubbed the ‘new Mesut Ozil’.
