Aston Villa want to end defender Ludwig Augustinsson’s loan deal at the club early after the signing of Alex Moreno from Real Betis.
That’s according to La Colina de Nervión, who say the Villans want to reach an agreement to ‘break the loan’ that they signed in the summer.
According to them, Aston Villa ‘currently regret’ the decision to sign defender, who arrived to provide competition for Lucas Digne in the summer.
He has proved to be ‘disappointing’ since then and is currently out of the side with a muscle injury that could see him on the sidelines for an extended period.
Add the arrival of defender Moreno from Betis this week, who will provide direct competition and will presumably be Unai Emery’s first choice moving forwards, and the Swede’s prospects don’t look good moving forwards.
Aston Villa want to end the loan deal early for all of those reasons but that would create ‘another problem’ for Sevilla to deal with this month.
Augustinsson has also ‘left a lot to be desired’ in his 27 games for the Andalusian team and they would not be all that interested in getting him back.
In fact, an early return from his loan spell at Villa Park would be a negative and see the player ‘added to the list of setbacks’ at the club.
It seems, then, Aston Villa will have to talk Sevilla into accepting him back as the idea of that is as unwelcome in Spain as the idea of him staying with the Villans is in Birmingham.
