Trabzonspor want to sign Aston Villa captain Micah Richards, Goal Turkey understands. The former Manchester City and Fiorentina player is valued by his club at around €5million, and Trabzonspor’s officials want a deal around €3million. Both clubs are willing to negotiate on the fee, and talks should resume soon.

The 28-year old played 24 games in the Premier League last season for relegated Aston Villa the club he joined on a free transfer a year ago. Richards has only made 1 League cup appearance for Aston Villa this season, and speculation is mounting about his future under new boss Roberto Di Matteo.

Goal Turkey also said that if Trabzonspor are not able to agree for Richards, then a loan move will be discussed between the two clubs. Trabzonspor boss Ersun Yanals wants to use Richards as a right-back, and his ability to play as a central defender will be a huge bonus for the respected Turkish boss.

Richards was once valued very highly when he was making name at Manchester City, but hasn’t quite reached his expected potential because of injuries and form issues. Richards also had a loan spell with Italian side Fiorentina in the 2014-15 season, where he made just 10 Serie A appearances.
