Clearly unwilling to spend next season playing for Aston Villa in the Championship, Jordan Veretout is looking for a way out, even if it’s just temporary.
Linked heavily with a move to Marseille during the second half of July, the player’s financial demands meant the move broke down, and now it’s another Ligue 1 club who are keen on the midfielder.
According to Mohamed Bouhafsi, reporting for RMC Sport in France, Saint-Étienne are currently negotiating with the former Nantes star.
ASSE négocie avec Jordan Veretout. Il n’a pas pris l’avion pour Sainté. Arrivée liée aussi à la qualif en Ligue Europa. Priorité DEF C !

However, that’s as far as it goes, with the player still in the Midlands for the time being, as the move is directly to linked to whether or not Saint-Étienne qualify for the Europa League.
This seems to suggest that on top of playing away from England’s second tier, the 23-year-old also wants to take part in a European competition next season.
Either that or ASSE will use the extra money from the competition to get the deal over the line if his personal demands are as high as Marseille’s backing out suggests.
