Aston Villa and Real Betis are set to battle it out for Tottenham Hotspur’s Giovani Lo Celso this summer, according to TyC Sports.
Ange Postecoglou didn’t rely upon the midfielder regularly last season as he clocked in less than 500 minutes from 22 league games for Tottenham.
Lo Celso provided the decisive assist to help Argentina win the Copa América last month, but the report says that won’t be enough for him to earn a place at Tottenham.
The midfielder has less than a year left on his deal, and his future seems to be away from Spurs. This has seen Aston Villa and the La Liga side to step in for the 28-year-old.
It’s claimed the two clubs are his ‘firm suitors’ and have let him know of their desire to secure his services in this window.
The Argentina international had perhaps the most successful club season of his career at Real Betis, which helped him secure a move to Tottenham in 2019. He has an opportunity to return to the Spanish club or to continue in the Premier League, by joining Unai Emery’s side.
TyC Sports’ title says Lo Celso has those two offers to leave Tottenham.
Lo Celso is yet to make a decision between Aston Villa and Real Betis, but what’s likely at this moment in time is that he won’t continue in London. Tottenham, for their part, are ready to sanction his sale if they were to receive a good offer.
