Before he was transferred to AS Roma, Tammy Abraham spent a season on loan at Aston Villa, where he made a real name for himself.
The striker scored 26 goals in 40 appearances during his stay with the Villans, and also picked up three assists, which allowed him to then get a chance at Chelsea.
The forward eventually ended up being sold to the Serie A side, where he has performed well under José Mourinho, but his future remains up in the air.
That’s partly because of his English roots, but also because there is interest from both Aston Villa and his former club (who have a buy-back clause) in his services.
Forza Roma in Italy claim that Unai Emery’s side are ‘watching’ Abraham from afar, with it well known that the Spaniard would like a new striker at Villa Park.
It’s stated that Aston Villa could ‘return’ for the player, and could find themselves lowering the asking price as there are two players in their squad that Roma ‘like a lot’.
Those are Emiliano Martínez and Douglas Luiz, but that’s a story for another day, with it made clear that, for now, Emery and co. are merely pondering whether a move for Abraham, who would cost upwards of €40m, would be worthwhile.
