Aston Villa will need to pay €50m of they wish to sign Nico Williams from Athletic Bilbao this summer, but that figure is seen as ‘little deterrent’.
That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who say his and Oihan Sancet’s current clauses are seen as small prices to pay in the current footballing landscape.
Williams release clause is currently €50m while his teammates is €45m, both of which are ‘not too exorbitant’ given the way the transfer market has moved in recent years.
For example, Chelsea paid €120m for Enzo Fernandez in January after he was one of the ‘revelations’ of the World Cup. That showed the price for young talent is only on the up.
Thus, with such a figure in mind, Aston Villa would be getting something of a bargain if they were to move for Williams in the future.
That is certainly the fear after reports in England and Spain linked them with a move for Williams in the January transfer window, with it even claimed that Unai Emery would go all out to get his signature.
If he revives that interest in the summer remains to be seen but if he does, it seems the price will be €50m, which as far as Mundo Deportivo is concerned, is unlikely to put Aston Villa off.
