Over the past few weeks, claims from Italy have stated Aston Villa are keen on signing Inter Milan’s Denzel Dumfries.

On June 10th, Calciomercato reported Aston Villa director Monchi has held talks with the 28-year-old’s agent.

The Netherlands international’s deal lasts until 2025, and the Italian media have stated Inter will have to sell him in the summer window if there’s no renewal.

InterLive.it now claim Aston Villa have been following the right-back for a long time and are ahead in the transfer race.

The report says the Villans have ‘taken concrete steps’ to try to sign the player, and they could make an attempt to ‘close the deal in the next few days’. The conditions seem to be favourable for Unai Emery’s side to ‘launch a decisive attack’ for the Dutchman.

Juventus want to offer Weston McKennie and Samuel Illing-Junior plus €20m in return for Aston Villa’s Douglas Luiz. InterLive.it claim the exchange deal is expected to go through soon and the Villans intend to use the funds to sign Dumfries.

On Monday, Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio stated the deal involving Luiz, McKennie and Illing-Junior is ‘blocked’ because the 25-year-old American hasn’t found an agreement with Aston Villa.

InterLive.it haven’t mentioned this or what would happen to Aston Villa’s interest in the Dumfries if their mega-deal with Juve collapses.
