Aston Villa have now moved from scouting to making a concrete bid for Alysson Edward. Reports from Brazil claim Grêmio received an offer worth €12m for the 19-year-old winger.
Globo Esporte reported a bid arrived in recent days and came from a foreign club. Bolavip state that the proposal was made by Aston Villa and exceeds the €12m figure initially reported.
The offer is now with Grêmio’s new president Odorico Roman, who took office this week. The previous administration had already rejected an offer of around €8m, but the latest bid has opened internal discussions.
The club hold 80% of Alysson’s rights, which makes a potential transfer financially significant as they prepare for a squad rebuild in 2026.
Aston Villa’s interest has been consistent. Their scouts watched Alysson in November during Grêmio’s match against Cruzeiro. That was part of a wider monitoring process that also included multiple games throughout the year.
The player made 39 appearances this season, 25 as a starter. He impressed with his pace, intensity and ability to adapt to senior football.
Grêmio now debate whether to accept the bid or wait for further price appreciation. Some directors see the amount as a strong return for a teenager still developing, while others fear selling him before he reaches his peak value.
The club also face the pressure of restructuring their squad and investing in new signings for 2026, which makes the Villa proposal hard to ignore.
A decision is expected in the coming days, as Grêmio study the sporting impact of losing the winger and analyse possible replacements. For Aston Villa, the bid marks a significant step in their South American recruitment drive and shows clear intent to bring Alysson to the Premier League.
