Aston Villa are still ‘paying attention’ to the situation around Carlos Soler this summer, but a deal for him is not as advanced as it once seemed.
That’s according to AS and El Desmarque, who both insist Aston Villa are still in the fight for the midfielder despite not yet moving to definitively sign him from Paris Saint Germain.
AS explain that Soler’s future lies outside of Paris this summer and according to their information, he is attracting interest from several clubs.
Real Sociedad and Villarreal are the teams currently at the front of the queue for him and know the player would welcome a return to Spain as he believes that may help him get back into the picture for Spain.
Valencia, in particular, would be looking at a loan deal that would only see them take up some of his wages. Whether Real Sociedad would look for a similar deal or a permanent move isn’t made clear.
They’re not the only sides in the mix, though, with Aston Villa ‘paying attention’ to his situation and perhaps ready to move if they deem it worthwhile.
Their interest is at a ‘lesser extent’ than the other two, according to the newspaper, despite various reports over the last few weeks saying they were pushing, and Unai Emery was doing his bit.
El Desmarque pick up on that point in particular and explain that while a deal seemed quite advanced, it is actually Real Sociedad who are pushing to convince the midfielder.
According to them, ‘things are not so clear’ with Aston Villa at this moment in time but they don’t rule them out entirely either.
Like AS, they seem to suggest Aston Villa have taken a step back for the time being, perhaps just monitoring matters and waiting to make their move. They remain, though, in the mix of clubs interested in Soler this summer.
