Aston Villa have stepped in for Galatasaray midfielder Gabriel Sara after being linked in recent weeks.
Earlier this month, we covered reports the Premier League side were monitoring the situation with the Brazil international.
Takvim report on the latest developments regarding Astons Villa’s interest in the former Norwich City player. They say Aston Villa have now stepped in for the central midfielder after compiling positive reports on the player.
Aston Villa get lowdown
According to the Turkish media outlet, the Premier League side were initially getting a lowdown on Sara’s club teammate Wilfried Singo.
The Ivorian defender has impressed for Galatasaray this season, which has brought him to the attention of a number of English topflight clubs.
However, it seems Sara caught Aston Villa’s eye and they are now expected to make an attempt to sign him. The 26-year-old has in the past 18 months been linked with a return to England after his spell in the Championship with Norwich City.
It’s unlikely Sara will come on the cheap with his stock rising in the past six months. Any club’s interested in signing the Brazilian this summer will need to offer at least €40m.
Aston Villa face competition
Aston Villa should expect to face competition to sign the player with reported interest from Everton and Newcastle United.
Tottenham Hotspur and Atletico Madrid have also been linked with Sara in recent weeks. Last summer there were reports Manchester City and Leeds United were monitoring the player.
The midfielder has been a key player for the Turkish side this season. He’s played 42 times in all competitions, contributing to 11 goals.
During his time at Carrow Road he made over 90 appearances, contributing to 20 goals.
He’s contracted to Galatasaray until June 2029 after only arriving in Istanbul in 2024. Despite this it seems Cimbom will sell if the right offer comes in.
