Following the many links between Premier League clubs and AS Roma defender Roger Ibanez, it’s time to see Aston Villa joining that race.
The news comes from CalcioMercatoWeb, who feature a story about the Giallorossi’s need to make big sales in the summer window.
The outlet writes that due to Financial Fair Play, Roma need €40m by the end of June. There are few players whose sale could give them that money, and Ibanez is one of them.
It’s said ‘several clubs’ from England may soon come after him, and Aston Villa have been monitoring the 24-year-old for several months.
CalcioMercatoWeb claims Unai Emery’s side are ‘starting to move’ for the signing, and with Roma ‘thinking of selling’, it seems they could find a deal.
The story says that Aston Villa would have to pay between €35m and €40m to get the Brazilian signed. Even though that’s seen as a big request, it’s said it’s still ‘within the reach’ of Premier League clubs.
Ibanez has also been linked to the likes of Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United, so the Villans may want to hurry up against the competition.
