Ollie Watkins’ agent has shut down transfer talk amid claims the Aston Villa striker is a target for Fenerbahce.

Sport Witness covered a report last week explaining that Fenerbahce were ‘quietly pursuing’ Ollie Watkins this summer. That report, which provided little information at the time, explained talks were going on behind the scenes about the England striker.
Fotomaç add to that today. They explain that Fenerbahce’s management are keen to bring in a star signing for the number nine position this summer. They have, according to the outlet, made contact with the Aston Villa star via his agents. He is, reportedly, high on their list of options.
According to the outlet the striker was reportedly asked “would you consider joining Fenerbahçe”. This is likely to be paraphrasing, as the Turkish media love doing that.
It seems, though, that Watkins agent is playing down any transfer talk for the playing time.
“My player is currently focused on the World Cup; we won’t be holding talks with any club until the World Cup is over,” they are quoted as saying.
Aston Villa unlikely to be interested
That’s not put off the Turkish side, though, according to Fotomac, they will ‘test the waters’ against for the striker after the World Cup. Aston Villa are believed to value their number nine at €25m.
But Sport Witness argued they would likely want at least double that for a striker who scored 21 goals in all competitions last season. It is hard to imagine Fenerbahçe ever getting close to such a figure. Their current record purchase, for example, is the €28m deal for Matteo Guendouzi.
It’s also hard to see Aston Villa even thinking about a sale this summer. Watkins is a key player under Unai Emery and tied to a deal until 2028. There is no reason to consider a sale, unless they receive a top fee and have a replacement already lined up.
