At the weekend, Brazilian outlet Globo Esporte revealed Corinthians’ intention to sign Philippe Coutinho from Aston Villa.

The website even managed to quote the midfielder’s agent Kia Joorabchian, who claimed he’d do his best for that transfer to happen.

Since that’d be a big move for Corinthians, the Brazilian media is now keeping an eye on the case and bringing a few updates on it.

One of the stories comes from Jorge Nicola. He claims to have spoken to a source at the Timão who confirmed the talks with Aston Villa are happening.

The journalist, however, doesn’t sound very optimistic about that. He says Corinthians’ plan is to sign Coutinho on a season-long deal, with the player accepting a big pay cut. That means the Villans wouldn’t make a profit with that, and would maybe even have to afford part of his salary, and that’s why he considers the deal ‘hard’ to happen.

And as Lance covers the news, they pretty much make it sound like Coutinho is being offered for this move.

Because they claim that the player was not initially a target for Corinthians, and is now suddenly seen as a ‘good market opportunity’.

According to the report, the 30-year-old is ‘interested’ in leaving Aston Villa to return to Brazil, which could play a big part in any deal taking place, should he really push for it.
