Aston Villa’s Youri Tielemans has revealed he’s already warned his teammates about Club Brugge, ahead of their clash later this year.
Tielemans was speaking at a press conference for the Belgian national team today ahead of the international break, relayed by Walfoot.
It’s the start of a busy period for the midfielder, whose schedule is set to be jam packed from here on out.
As well as international duty he will also be playing plenty of football with Aston Villa, who qualified for the Champions League last season.
That means they’ll be taking part in the new league style format this season, which has seen the old group stages dropped in favour of one-legged ties in a 36-team league.
Aston Villa will be taking on Young Boys, Bayern Munich, Bologna, Club Brugge, Juventus and RB Leipzig in their games as they look to qualify for the knockout stages.
That means a return to Belgium for the Red Devils in their squad such as Tielemans and Amadou Onana, and the former admits that he’s already spoken to his teammates about Brugge and the dangers they pose.
“It’s nice to go to Bruges,” he said.
“I could say it’s a happy reunion, but not really. These are the games you look forward to. They are high-level games, but it will be nothing more than another game that we want to win.
“I know how difficult it will be in Bruges, asand I have already warned my teammates about it. The Club is a very good team.
“It’s complicated to talk about our ambitions, we’ll really see match by match. The points system to progress to the next round is not yet very clear. We will just try to take as many as possible.”
