Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez is doing a nice gesture to help kids in Argentina.
As reported by Olé, the national team hero is auctioning the gloves he used in the World Cup last year.
“Here I am going to leave my signed gloves that I used in the World Cup for the Oncology people of the Garrahan Hospital,” said the Aston Villa goalkeeper. “I hope I can visit them one day.”
Martinez will be helping an initiative taken by the Argentine Pediatric Foundation and the gloves can be found in Bidbit’s website.
The auction will take place until the 3rd of March, and at the time of this story, the highest bid is of US$1.5k (£1.3k).
The Aston Villa goalkeeper only made his debut for Argentina in 2021, but his short time at the national team was more than enough for him to be loved by their fans.
First because of his performances in Copa America, and then being one of the heroes who led them to the World Cup title in Qatar.
Martinez gets some big attention from the local media, who have this week covered several stories which say he could soon be leaving Aston Villa.
All that spotlight will certainly help him get more money for the gloves and help the kids in need.
