Aston Villa will be working to get multiple pieces of business across the line in the coming days, and that should mean a series of announcements from the Premier League club.

Perhaps the first is going to be arrival of Andrés García from Levante. Over the past few days we’ve been covering the story from Spain and Portugal as Monchi worked to snatch the player from Sporting CP’s clutches.

For the Portuguese club it’s an especially frustrating situation because it’s the second time it’s happened to them with a right-back within a week. Firstly, they lost Alberto Costa, having felt they’d secured his signing from Vitória de Guimarães, only to see Juventus swoop in at the last minute and secure all aspects of a transfer in around 48 hours.

Andrés García was their next option, and Aston Villa have ruined that.

Sunday’s edition of SuperDeporte, local to Levante, reports the 21-year-old’s transfer is ‘about to happen’ and ‘about to be official’, with the fee put at €7m plus a potential €2.25m in bonuses.

AS‘ newspaper today suggests Levante’s 3-1 over Granada on Saturday can help them get over the pain of losing such a good player.

Levante manager Julian Calero is quoted as saying: “I am happy for the group. I do not want pessimism to set in. Of course, if players leave in the market we will not like it. Andrés is 99% out. But we will regroup and move forward.”
