Aston Villa are showing a ‘strong desire’ to sign Stade Rennais youngster Mathis Lambourde this summer.
That’s according to Foot Mercato, who say Aston Villa and several Bundesliga club are considering making a move for the 18-year-old.
They explain that Lambourde is the latest youngster to come out of the Stade Rennais talent factory, with a long line of their young players having gone on to join major European sides after breaking through.
Lambourde could be se to join that list, with many backing him for a great future after impressing in the club’s youth ranks.
He’s still relatively unknown to the French public but his displays for France’s various youth sides have been noticed by clubs around Europe.
Aston Villa are one of the sides who have been ‘seduced’ by his athletic qualities, his leadership and his winning mentality. They believe he has everything in his locker to flourish in the Premier League.
They’re showing a strong desire to make a move to get him this summer, although are yet to do anything definitive.
Lambourde, for his part, is enjoying life at Rennes and is giving himself time to think, with FM even suggesting that he could be waiting for the Villans interest to materialise into something more concrete.
