Aston Villa have reportedly joined the race for Hoffenheim youngster Maximilian Beier, showing some ‘concrete interest’ in him.
That’s said by Sky Deutschland journalist Florian Plettenberg, who claims Unai Emery’s side will now fight Chelsea for the signing.
It’s said that both Aston Villa and the Blues have ‘gathered information’ about the youngster in recent days.
It seems there’s a fixed price for his transfer this summer, as his contract with Hoffenheim includes a €30m release clause.
Beier returned to the club last summer, following a loan spell at Hannover. In the season after his return, he scored 15 goals and made three assists in 35 appearances.
Plettenberg also features some quotes from the 21-year-old, who recently said: “We can chat after the Euros.”
This is not the first time the youngster has been linked with a Premier League move. Earlier this month, a report from Sportbild listed Manchester United, Liverpool, Nottingham Forest and Brentford as clubs who’ve been interested in him.
So it now seems like Chelsea and Aston Villa are making the first moves for the signing, and we shall soon get to see if either of them are willing to trigger his release clause.
