There’s a claim in the Turkish media that Aston Villa have stepped up their efforts to sign Galatasaray attacker Baris Alper Yilmaz.
The 24-year-old has been linked with a move to the Premier League after impressing for Turkey in this summer’s Euros.
A number of Premier League sides have been linked with the player, including Aston Villa, West Ham United, Manchester United and Liverpool
Fotospor have reported on Aston Villa’s pursuit for Yilmaz, and they say transfer talks have taken place in London. It’s claimed Monchi has met with Galatasaray sporting director Cenk Ergün to discuss signing the right winger.
The Turkish media outlet report Monchi sees Yilmaz as a possible alternative to Emi Buendia, who missed most of last season through injury. There have been recent reports Galatasaray are looking at a transfer fee of €30m plus, but this sounds ambitious.
Lucas Digne was also said to be on the agenda during the meeting after reports in the past couple of days the Turkish champions want to sign the left back on loan.
Yilmaz started 28 Super Lig games last season, scoring seven goals. He’s contracted to Galatasaray until June 2027.
