Monchi’s presence at Aston Villa has encouraged the European media to look at Aston Villa more closely when it comes to transfers, and no doubt encouraged agents to encourage links.
The latest player to be linked with the Premier League side due to Monchi’s past associations is AS Roma midfielder Bryan Cristante.
RadioRadio director Ilario Di Giovambattista has reported on Aston Villa’s interest in Cristante, stating that Roma are currently considering an offer from the Birmingham club, who have put forward a fee of €20m plus bonuses for the Italy international.
Monchi, during his time at Roma, was key in bringing Cristante to the Roman club from Atalanta. The Italian is ‘highly respected’ by the Spaniard, who now reportedly wants to bring him to Villa Park this summer.
It is suggested by the journalist’s tweet that the midfielder is seen as a ‘transferable’ entity by the Giallorossi and their manager Daniele De Rossi, who feels that only Evan Ndicka and Mile Svilar can’t be allowed to leave.
At one point last year, we covered a report from Il Messaggero about Villa interest in Cristante and it’s now brought to life again.
