Newcastle United are among the clubs in the picture to sign Real Betis player Abde Ezzalzouli this summer.
The Magpies’ scout already followed him closely towards the end of last season. The Spanish media stated the winger would find it difficult to say no to Eddie Howe’s side.
Newcastle United haven’t made concrete advances yet but are circling around him.
Two days ago, Sport Witness relayed news that the Premier League side and Aston Villa are keen and that the Morocco international is learning English.
Newcastle United interest backed up
Estadio Deportivo now claim the Tyneside club are one of the 24-year-old’s suitors, when covering the latest on the Villans.
Abde Ezzalzouli has a contract until 2029, and it has a €60m release clause. His former club, Barcelona, retain a 20% sell-on clause.
Their president, Ángel Haro, has already confirmed he’s not untransferable earlier this month.
He said: “He’s showing significant maturity. He started working from day one and could be ready by the second week. We’re very happy with Abde and we’d like to keep him but saying that a player is untouchable doesn’t make sense.”
The attacker recently had a meeting with the Andalusian club, and both parties decided he can leave if his suitors activate the €60m clause.
Boost for Newcastle United
Estadio, who make it clear it’s their own information, have found out Unai Emery’s side have no intention of paying €60m. They are working on signing Chelsea’s Alejandro Garnacho on loan with a purchase obligation.
Eddie Howe’s side haven’t qualified for Europe while the Villans will play in the Champions League next season. However, the latter’s interest in Abde Ezzalzouli isn’t strong enough for them to make a substantial offer to sign him.
Newcastle United are the Moroccan’s suitor and Aston Villa’s withdrawal will come as a big encouragement. It’s unclear whether the Magpies will convert this advantage into an offer.
Abde’s future remains uncertain and that’s likely to be the case till he finds a new club or until the end of this window.
