Following a number of reports claiming that Tottenham were keen on Roger Ibañez, the latest in the pursuit from Premier League clubs in the Brazilian defender involves Aston Villa.
It’s no secret that Unai Emery is trying to bolster his defence, with the pursuit of Pau Torres testament to that, but Corriere dello Sport reckon the AS Roma centre-back is also on the list.
This comes from an article over the weekend, as the newspaper look at what the future holds for the 24-year-old, with Aston Villa standing ready.
The newspaper recall that the Serie A side are looking for a fee of around €25-30m for their player, which they know is a fee that big clubs from the Premier League and others further down the table can afford.
That’s where Aston Villa come in, as they state the Villans are ‘ready to present the offer’ for Ibañez, with Roma already preparing themselves for the exit, having signed Evan N’Dicka on a free and on the verge of getting Diego Llorente back on loan from Leeds.
Having already managed to get the €30m they were looking for from other sales before June 30th, the Italians are a bit more relaxed about this sale, and can take their time over it.
This, in turn, could also work in Aston Villa’s favour as well, as they can have a bit more time to potentially negotiate down a price if they are indeed keen on the Brazilian.
Down his end, the centre-back is celebrating his recent wedding to his lifelong partner, Bruna Kisner, and they are all ‘waiting for news’, as the player knows ‘the next few days could be decisive’ when it comes to a move to another club.
