Aston Villa midfielder Carlos Sanchez is edging closer to a move to Fiorentina, according to claims in the Italian media. The Colombia international looks set to leave the Championship side this summer, and has also been linked with a move to Marseille in recent weeks.
Viola News have today reported Aston Villa have agreed to sell Sanchez to Fiorentina because the Serie A side are now prepared to purchase the player on a permanent deal.
Fiorentina only days ago wanted to sign the South American on a season loan deal, but Aston Villa are keen to recoup what they paid for the player two seasons ago.
However, an agreement still needs to made on Sanchez’s transfer fee as Fiorentina are either hoping they can go lower than his €2m valuation, or even pay this sum in several payments.
Aston Villa will be hoping this deal can be completed after Sanchez turned down a move to Marseille despite there being an agreement between the two clubs.
Sanchez joined Aston Villa on the back of his impressive displays for Colombia during the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. However, he has never re-produced the form he showed for his country in his two years with Aston Villa following his €2m move from Spanish side Elche.
