At the start of last month, L’Equipe reported Aston Villa are at the front of the queue to sign Toulouse’s Jaydee Canvot this summer.
On July 14th, journalist Sacha Tavolieri reported the Villans are going to make a bid for the 19-year-old.
A month later, RMC Sport now provides the latest on Aston Villa’s pursuit of the defender, who can also operate as a midfielder.
It’s claimed Unai Emery’s side have made an initial bid to the Ligue 1 club. The fee offered isn’t mentioned, but the report states it has been rejected by Toulouse.
This hasn’t put off Aston Villa as they ‘will return to the fray’ to secure the centre-back’s services. RMC Sports reports the Villans are preparing an improved offer, without mentioning a figure.
The France U19 international graduated from Toulouse’s youth system and made his way into their first team in 2024. Last December, he was rewarded with a new contract until 2029.
According to the report, Toulouse have set their own conditions to sanction the versatile player’s sale in this window, including a €20m price. It’s unclear whether Aston Villa are willing to meet their demand to sign Canvot.
Since the start of last season, the youngster has played 21 games in all competitions.
