Aston Villa are set to submit a first bid for Famalicão goalkeeper Luiz Júnior, opening talks to sign him this summer.
That’s according to Mais Futbol, who report that Aston Villa are‘working to formalise’ a proposal for the goalkeeper in the coming hours as they move to strengthen Unai Emery’s squad.
Mais Futbol report that Aston Villa intend to make an offer of €10m plus €2m in bonuses for the 23-year-old goalkeeper, whose current contract expires in 2027.
The Brazilian has been with the Portuguese side since 2019, initially joining their U23s on a free transfer from Mirassol-SP in Brazil before stepping up to the first team in 2020.
Since then, has made 139 appearances for the club, conceding 178 goals in total and keeping 41 clean sheets. He had a record of seven goals conceded and six cleans sheets in 11 appearances for the U23s.
His value has been steadily rising in the last three years and Aston Villa are now formalising a proposal that could end up costing them €12m.
The Villans currently have Emiliano Martínez, Joe Gauci, Robin Olsen, Filip Marschall and Viljami Sinisalo in the goalkeeper departments but Olsen has been linked with a move away this summer and perhaps Júnior is being eyed as his replacement for number two behind Martínez.
