On Saturday, Brazil manager Fernando Diniz announced his squad which will be facing Venezuela and Uruguay in the next lot of World Cup qualifiers.
Aston Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz was once again out of the list, and it seems he’s quite bothered with that.
As relayed by several big outlets in the Brazilian media, such as ESPN Brasil, the tweet posted by the player on Sunday seems like a message for Diniz.
Right after Aston Villa’s 1-0 win over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, Douglas Luiz published a message in which, besides thanking fans for his support, he included a bit of an introduction, showing that he’s Brazilian, and saying his current state is ‘peaceful and calm’.
ESPN points out how that’s a ‘possible indirect’ message for Diniz, who’s now set to have his second international break in charge of the national team.
Douglas Luiz has nine caps for Brazil, all of them after joining Aston Villa, and was part of the squad which played the Copa America in 2021.
Fernando Diniz’s options for midfield this time were André, Casemiro, Bruno Guimarães, Gerson and Raphael Veiga.
Big win at Stamford bridge, thank you so much for your support today it means a lot to us ❤️
