Aston Villa’s Youri Tielemans has a ‘problem’ after Belgium manager Domenico Tedesco dropped him for the game against Estonia.
That’s according to Het Laatste Nieuws, who takes a look at his situation for both club and country.
The 26-year-old has made six appearances since he joined Aston Villa on a free transfer in the last window.
That includes one start, which came in a Europa Conference League qualifier against Hibernian FC. In the league, he has clocked in 93 minutes from four league games.
According to HLN, the midfielder, who suffered an injury earlier this year, is struggling with confidence and lack of rhythm.
Tielemans is no longer the ‘obvious choice’ for Belgium because he has disappointed, and Nottingham Forest’s Orel Mangala has impressed when given opportunities.
The report states it’s too early to write off the Aston Villa player but they do state he has a ‘problem’ with De Rode Duivels.
The competition is also ‘fierce’ at the Premier League side and HLN say Tielemans’ situation ‘could become even worse’ in the coming weeks, if he continues to be a substitute.
He has to convince Unai Emery in order to regain his place for both club and country.
