Aston Villa‘s Andrés García has hardly featured since joining the Premier League side from Levante in January 2025.
The right-back played 83 minutes from six Premier League matches this season as Unai Emery favoured Matty Cash.
He had opportunities to leave Aston Villa in January but decided to finish the season at Villa Park. This allowed him to win the Europa League with the Villans last month.
On Tuesday, Sport Witness covered claims from Spain that Emery has given him approval to leave this summer.
His preference is to join Valencia, who haven’t made official contact with the English club.
Aston Villa player carefully evaluates next step
Onda Cero also report the Spaniard will leave the Birmingham club and several clubs are keen on signing him.
Valencia and Elche CF showed interest in January, and both are still keen on him. The two clubs have to be wary of competition from Italy and elsewhere.
Wednesday’s edition of Información, a newspaper local to Elche CF, covers the latest on their interest.
Andrés García is on their agenda and Aston Villa opening the door favours them, after failing in the winter market.
The Europa League winners and the fullback agree that it’s best for him to play elsewhere next season.
He has several options, including Valencia, but his agent won’t rush to make the final decision. However, the representative’s intention is to secure the Aston Villa exit by July.
The La Liga side have to appoint a manager following Eder Sarabia’s sudden exit last week. They can’t make advances to sign the fullback until his successor is appointed.
He has to compete with Buba Sangaré if Elche make the latter’s stay permanent. These two are the problems for the Spanish club to make advances to sign García.
Both Aston Villa and the defender are clear he will leave this summer. The destination has to be decided depending on the formal offers.
Villans likely to sanction loan move
There’s no clarity on whether Andrés García will leave on loan or a permanent transfer this summer.
His contract is until 2029 and Transfermarkt value him at €7m. A temporary move is likely to see the player enjoy more minutes next season, which in return can improve his value.
