It seems Aston Villa midfielder Nicolo Zaniolo has just received some very bad news.
According to Italian outlet Corriere Dello Sport, the player is set to miss the Euros due to an injury picked up in last night’s game against Liverpool.
The outlet writes that after clinical tests, the doctors found out the issue is ‘serious’, as Zaniolo suffered a microfracture in his foot.
The Aston Villa midfielder is set to be sidelined for a month, which means he’t can’t go to Germany for the Euros.
Zaniolo had already missed the last Euros due to a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament, so that’s another reason for him to be gutted.
This is also expected to be the end of his spell at Aston Villa, where he made 39 appearances and scored three goals this season.
The midfielder is currently loaned by Galatasaray, and the Italian media many times claimed that Unai Emery’s side have no intention of making the move permanent. It should then be up to his agent and the Turkish club to find him a new destination in the summer.
